The Role of the Auditor-General

The Auditor-General of Ghana is a constitutional officer appointed by the President, acting on the advice of the Council of State, and approved by Parliament.

Constitutional Authority

Exercises authority derived from Articles 187-189 of the Constitution

Audit Responsibility

Responsible for auditing all public accounts and reporting to Parliament

Independence

Not subject to direction or control of any person or authority

Reporting

Submits annual reports and special reports to Parliament
